Sparse Design: Cross-Disciplinary Communications in Software Development

Gail Thornburg

Online Computer Library Center (OCLC), USA

One of the precepts of traditional models of software development is that detailed specifications, that is, what

precisely the software should do, must precede the design and then creation of the code. This pa-per details

scenarios of non-conformance to this model, and explores the issues that arise from the fail-ure of the model.

Keywords: knowledge representation, software design, information retrieval
