| This paper is based on a survey carried out in the Malaysian environment. The paper starts with a defini-tion of |
| data warehouses, data mining and this is followed by a description of its current status in the Ma-laysian data mining |
| environment. This is followed by a discussion on why data mining is a great chal-lenge for an implementation in |
| the Malaysian environment. Based on the feedback obtained from the respondents, a conclusion is drawn on the |
| appropriateness of the data mining techniques in the Malay-sian environment |
